The Next Adventure by Zack Wussow

Karen and Ben were never going to have a “normal” wedding. They met backpacking through the wilderness, live for adventure, and when Karen first contacted me she was pretty sure their summer camp venue meant she could zip-line into their ceremony.

These are some of my favorite weddings, though - ones that break the mold to perfectly fit the couple. The ceremony was simple, and sadly zip-line free, but their personalized vows were funny and beautiful.

The reception began with toasts, dinner, and cupcakes-

-but most of the night was given over to dancing to the live band, messing around on the monkey bars, and generally having a great time with their friends!

Throwback: Raucus by Zack Wussow

I've run into Sarah at many weddings since I photographed her and Chris's wedding in 2014 - seriously, I should just put her on the payroll given how many people she's referred to me - and anytime I see her face I know the reception is going to be a fun party. But few can match up to their blowout of a wedding.

I don't think I've ever had another bride with as much energy and excitement before the ceremony. No worries, no anxiety, just thrilled to be marrying her partner in crime.

The same energy extended to the wedding party, who could hardly keep a straight face through posed photos.

And then, of course, the amazing reception. If memory serves, this was also one of the best DJ's I've ever seen, who's contact info I've unfortunately lost.

Oh, and one last cute detail: ring photos with the pooches.

Congratulations, Sarah and Chris, hope to see you two around again!

Fun on the Farm by Zack Wussow

Jesse and Colin were very clear when we met to discuss their wedding; they wanted to have fun.

The setting was Dudley Farm, a scenic, intimate little spot in Guilford. After a brief ceremony, we toured around the grounds for some beautiful posed photos.

The reception was casual and fun. Dinner came in the form of the New Haven Pizza Truck; possibly some of the best wedding food (and pizza) I've ever had!

The night was full of dancing, fun conversation, drinks, and rounded out with a visit from an ice cream truck!

Incidentally, this was my 80th wedding! And I'll photograph my 90th before the year is out. I hope they're all just as fun!
