Love in the Time of Corona by Zack Wussow

Greg and Klaudia’s wedding was my first during the Corona quarantine. Like many couples, they had to make some drastic cutbacks to their plans, but that didn’t stop them from having a beautiful wedding.

The day began with some quick posed photos at Klaudia’s parents’ house.

Then it was time for the ceremony at Holy Cross Church in New Britain, a beautiful old building. The pastor was very helpful, pointing out some ideal spots for photos, and the ceremony was beautiful. Though the crowd was necessarily small, a wider audience got to watch from home on a zoom call.

The weather wasn’t totally cooperating, but that didn’t stop the couple, wedding party, and I from heading to nearby Walnut Hill Park for some fun posed photos. Everyone got a little wet but no one seemed to mind very much.

Then it was back to Klaudia’s parents’ house for a backyard reception. I didn’t stay long - just through a first dance and the start of dinner.

My favorite thing was the steady stream of friends and family making video calls to say congratulations. Even though many couldn’t be at the reception, there were a hundred little parties happening all over the country and even as far as Poland.

Simple and Sweet by Zack Wussow

Alyssa knows my wife Heather from way back - so it was lovely when she reached out about having me photograph her and Joe’s fall wedding.

It was a simple day, starting with posed photos and the ceremony at First Church of Christ, Farmington, a beautiful church older than the USA.

We also visited the library nextdoor for couples photos. So awesome!

The reception was held in a family friends’ backyard, though that description really undersells the awesome, covered pavilion and tent arrangement. There wasn’t a lot in terms of big events, but there was a lot of great food and friends on a perfect day.

Last, but not least, it was time for their totally amazing cake. Can you guess that their wedding was Harry Potter themed?

Congratulations, Alyssa and Joe!

Throwback: Backyard Blowout by Zack Wussow

In retrospect, it's possible that I got a lot of ideas for my own wedding from David and Brian's backyard tent wedding. Certainly the laid-back, intimate atmosphere is just what Heather and I were looking for. (I also just realized this was perhaps the first wedding I worked with Mary Pugh, who was also our Justice of the Peace!)

I also give a big thumbs up to their vest-and-bowtie look. Though unlike them I wimped out and got pre-tied bowties.

The ceremony itself was lovely, short and sweet on a perfect fall day.

The reception, held in a backyard tent, was a ton of fun with great food and lots of good times.
