Misty Mountains by Zack Wussow

In October my wife Heather and I had the wonderful excuse of my friend Whitney’s wedding to take a road trip to beautiful, rural Virginia.

The wedding day started with getting ready - Heather took Kirk and his guys out for some posed photos, and unintentionally made Whitney cry!

The ceremony was outside, with the rain just barely holding off. The mist actually made the background that much more beautiful.

Posed photos were easy with this stunning couple and a such a beautiful backdrop.

The reception kicked off with the first dance, speeches, and a macaron birthday cake for Whitney’s sister.

Then it was time to party!

Finally, a dramatic exit showered by lavender!

Spider-kid by Zack Wussow

I’m going to make you wait till the end to see what that title is about…

My friends Faith and Vic welcomed their first child, a smiling baby boy, into the world this January.

Luckily we were able to do some newborn photos before social distancing kicked in. Vic V was ready for his close-up with a variety of creative expressions.

After his individual pictures (and a feeding) it was time for family photos. I love these natural poses.

And - at last - Spider-Kid learning the most important things about life from Spider-Dad.

After all those wonderful photos, we had one sleepy baby.

Overcome with Love by Zack Wussow

Kaitlyn and Mario were so fun to work with for their engagement that I was really excited for their wedding day! Things got started with prep at a family friend’s home.

Then it was time for the traditional church ceremony, with an unexpected twist - specifically, Kaitlyn fainting halfway through! Luckily she was fine - Mario caught her! - and only needed a quick breather to get back on her feet.

Everyone moved to the Aria for the reception. Toasts kicked off the night, followed by cake cutting and parent dances.

The bouquet toss was energetic!

Then it was time to dance and party the night away!

Expecting in the Fall by Zack Wussow

Last November, I met my friends Faith and Vic on a very chilly afternoon at Barkhamsted Reservoir for some maternity photos.

As always, Vic was ready with a goof to make Faith smile.

The dam itself was so windy that our options were limited, but luckily we found a beautiful sheltered spot down the road for more portraits. I love shots like these where I know we were standing in a dumpy parking area, but the photos make it look like a remote scenic vista.

And last but not least - cool pose.

If you liked these, just wait till you see the newborn photos! :)

Love in the Fall by Zack Wussow

Amanda and James had so many great ideas for their engagement session last year in Newport, I just knew that their wedding was going to be great.

The day started with prep photos at a local hotel.

From there we moved to The Lodge at Maneeley’s, where Amanda and James were relieved to finally have their first look and see each other.

The ceremony was short and sweet - James’ vows in particular required a lot of tissues.

After cocktail hour, it was time for introductions, which included an amazing surprise!

Those are the bridesmaids, charging in to the theme from Jurassic Park.

First dance, speeches, and parent dances followed.

Then: dancing! And lots of it! (James’ college friends especially put in a lot of work on the dance floor!)

We stole the happy couple away for some night photos on the amazing grounds.

It was an amazing day, and I’m so happy for James and Amanda. Congratulations!

Simple and Sweet by Zack Wussow

Alyssa knows my wife Heather from way back - so it was lovely when she reached out about having me photograph her and Joe’s fall wedding.

_MG_4571.jpg

It was a simple day, starting with posed photos and the ceremony at First Church of Christ, Farmington, a beautiful church older than the USA.

_MG_4324.jpg

We also visited the library nextdoor for couples photos. So awesome!

The reception was held in a family friends’ backyard, though that description really undersells the awesome, covered pavilion and tent arrangement. There wasn’t a lot in terms of big events, but there was a lot of great food and friends on a perfect day.

_MG_4839.jpg

Last, but not least, it was time for their totally amazing cake. Can you guess that their wedding was Harry Potter themed?

Congratulations, Alyssa and Joe!
